Us Rep. Mike Kelly was the special guest at the Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Surgeons dinner held on August 10, 2011 at the Bayfront Convention Center.
Mr. Kelly mingled with surgeons and spouses during the social hour getting to know and understand individual concerns of the local medical community as well as their suggestions for the future of medical care and federal laws and regulations governing Medicare, Medicaid and the impact of Obamacare.
Christopher J. Weibel, MD, FACS, President of the chapter formally introduced the Congressman who addressed the group about the current state of Congress, inter-party relationships, current dysfunction in the budget and the absence of any from the Senate. Interesting vignettes and personal observations especially from the aspect of a successful small business owner who became an elected official.
The evening concluded successfully with the surgeons expressing their appreciation for Mr. Kelly’s candor, grasp of topics and participation.
