Committee to meet June 20, 2011

The full committee of the Erie County Republican Party will meet on June 20, 2011 at 7 pm. The venue is the Millcreek Township Building on West 26th Street.

All candidates for county and township offices are invited to present their positions and platforms or send their representatives, to address the attendees. This event has been posted on the Events Calendar for reference and directions. Inquiries can be directed through our contact form.

Former Sen. Santorum to make important announcement Monday

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)  is preparing to make a major announcement regarding the  2012 campaign for President of the United States on Monday, June 6, 2011

This nationally covered event will be held in front of the
Somerset County Courthouse
111 East Union Street
Somerset, PA 15501
(located less than 1/2 mile off of the PA Turnpike)

Supporters are encouraged to attend.  Please inquire for transportation arrangements* and photographic opportunities at info@rcac.net.

*There is at least 1 bus available, free of charge from the Cranberry exit on Rt 79. The bus will leave from the
Target parking lot at Rt.228 at 7:45am and will arrive at the Courthouse around 10 for the announcement.
Lunch will be a local restaurant (paid for on your own) and the bus will travel to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville
before returning back to Cranberry.

Moody’s Issues Warning: Credit Rating Will be Downgraded Without “Substantial Deficit Reduction”

Washington, DC —Leading investment agency Moody’s warned the U.S. government Thursday that its sterling credit rating could be downgraded in the next few weeks if there is no progress in Washington on reaching a deal to increase the nation’s borrowing limit.

Moody’s Investor’s Service said it would place the government’s Aaa rating under review for a possible downgrade due to the “very small but rising risk” of a short-lived default if the White House and Republican leaders can’t agree on raising the nation’s debt ceiling, which has already hit $14.3 trillion.

Moody’s announcement followed the lead set by S&P, which announced in April that it was downgrading the U.S. credit outlook to negative over the nation’s mounting debt.

Republicans reveal new Jobs Plan

House Republicans unveil their vision of an agenda that promotes economic growth today, combining old prescriptions for lowering taxes, deregulating industry and boosting trade into a package they say complements their strategy to cut spending.

At a time of high unemployment, the proposal signals an acknowledgment from Republicans that they have to communicate to the public about how they would create jobs, not just how they would shrink government.
