Posted on: December 14th, 2012

Scott Perry, who was recently elected to Congress, praised Gov. Tom Corbett for rejecting the creation of a state-based health insurance exchange.

“I commend Gov. Corbett for stopping the creation of an inefficient and unnecessary state-based health insurance exchange that would not spend hard-earned tax dollars wisely,” Perry, a Republican from Carroll Township, said in a news release Thursday. “I’m glad the Governor agrees that this exchange is an irresponsible burden on the Commonwealth’s hard-working taxpayers.”

Perry will be sworn into office in January. He will represent the newly designed 4th Congressional District.

Rep.-elect Scott Perry Thanks Gov. Corbett for Rejecting Unnecessary and Inefficient State-Based Health Insurance Exchange

Harrisburg— Yesterday, Gov. Corbett joined 19 states in rejecting the creation of an inefficient state-based health insurance exchange. In deciding not to create the government-run health insurance exchange Gov. Corbett stated, “It would be irresponsible to put Pennsylvanians on the hook for an unknown amount of money to operate a system under rules that have not been fully written.” In October, Rep.-elect Scott Perry introduced a bill in the Pennsylvania House to stop the creation of a state-based health insurance exchange, which is required by the President’s health care law.

“I commend Gov. Corbett for stopping the creation of an inefficient and unnecessary state-based health insurance exchange that would not spend hard-earned tax dollars wisely,” said Rep.-elect Scott Perry. “I’m glad the Governor agrees that this exchange is an irresponsible burden on the Commonwealth’s hard-working taxpayers.”

Rep.-elect Perry will represent Pennsylvania’s new 4th Congressional District. He will be sworn in to office on January 3, 2013.
